How repairs work
When you bring your hearing aids in, our providers will diagnose the issue and let you know what’s involved, how long repairs should take, and any costs involved before proceeding.
In-warranty: Hearing aids come with a warranty when purchased new. If yours are still covered, many repairs are done at no cost to you.
Out-of-warranty: If your warranty has expired, most hearing aids can still be repaired for a small fee. Depending on the manufacturer, the repair may come with a new one-year warranty.
Loaners while you wait: If we need to send your hearing aids to the manufacturer for repair, we’ll provide hi-tech loaners custom-fit to your hearing loss at no additional charge, so you can keep hearing in the meantime.
What to do if your hearing aids need repair
Before you assume the worst, a few simple checks can solve many common hearing aid problems at home.
Do:
- Check the battery or make sure the device is fully charged
- Clean the hearing aid gently, and check the wax guard and microphone ports for blockage
- Open the battery door and let it dry overnight if you suspect moisture
- Try a fresh wax guard if the sound is faint or muffled
- Call us if a quick check doesn’t fix it and we’ll diagnose the problem
Don’t:
- Don’t get your hearing aids wet or use water or alcohol to clean them
- Don’t use sharp objects to dig out wax or debris. You can damage the components
- Don’t apply heat (hair dryers, microwaves, ovens) to dry a wet hearing aid. This can warp or ruin it
- Don’t try to open the casing or repair internal parts yourself. It can void your warranty
- Don’t wait on a problem that isn’t resolving. Small issues can get worse, and you deserve to hear properly
