Financing Hearing Aids

Prescription Hearing offers financing for hearing aids.

We offer financing through Care Credit, a secure financing option. Approval is completed through the Care Credit website, and qualified buyers may be able to select interest-free financing for up to 12 months.

Financing can be a helpful option if you want to spread out the cost of hearing aids instead of paying the full amount upfront. Available terms depend on the financing provider and buyer qualifications.

  • Secure application handled on the Care Credit website
  • Interest-free up to 12 months for qualified buyers
  • Spreads the cost into predictable monthly payments
  • A helpful option when paying in full isn't the right fit
Insurance

Insurance and hearing aids

Insurance coverage for hearing aids varies by plan. Some plans help pay for hearing aids, some cover hearing testing but not the devices themselves, and some don’t include any hearing or hearing aid benefits.

Insurance check
The good news: Prescription Hearing can check your insurance benefits for you
Depending on your plan, coverage may involve:
  • A set dollar amount toward hearing aids
  • Coverage for one or both ears
  • Deductibles or copays
  • Reimbursement after purchase
  • Limits on hearing aid brands, models, or technology levels
  • Coverage for hearing tests, fittings, follow-up care, repairs, or batteries
Your insurance plan may ask for these details:
  • Whether you need a hearing test first
  • Whether prior authorization is required
  • Whether a referral is needed
  • Whether coverage is per ear or total
  • What dollar amount or percentage is covered
  • Whether your deductible applies
  • Whether follow-up care is included
  • Whether the provider must be in network
  • Whether the provider’s NPI number is needed

If your insurance doesn’t cover the full cost (which is likely), you may still be able to use financing, HSA/FSA funds, credit cards, or other benefits to help.

For a deeper dive into how managed care plans can affect hearing care:

Medicare

Medicare and hearing aids

Original Medicare typically doesn’t pay for hearing aids. Some Medicare Advantage (also known as Managed Care) plans may include hearing aid benefits.

Type of Medicare What it means for hearing aids
Original Medicare Does not cover hearing aids. It may cover certain diagnostic hearing exams if ordered by a doctor.
Medicare Advantage / Managed Care Plan May include hearing aid benefits, depending on the plan. Coverage rules, provider networks, approved devices, and copays can vary. These plans will limit the type of technology and manufacturer options. Some hearing aid prices are more expensive through managed care. We can check your benefits and compare your options to help you decide which payment path makes the most sense.

If you have a Managed care plan, we can help check your benefits so you have a clearer idea of what your plan may cover before moving forward.

HSA & FSA Funds

Hearing aids are generally eligible expenses for HSA and FSA funds

You may be able to use your HSA or FSA funds to pay for hearing aids, including costs your insurance doesn’t cover. HSA/FSA funds can be useful option whether you’re paying out of pocket, using partial insurance benefits, or combining more than one payment method.

If you plan to use an HSA or FSA card, double-check your plan’s rules before purchase and keep your receipt in case your plan administrator asks for documentation.
